William D. Cox

William David Cox Jr. 90, of 2009 Oakland Ave. Henderson, NC died Friday, January 25, 2019 at his home.

Born in Pasquotank County, NC he was the son of the late Bessie Wester and William David Cox Sr.

Mr. Cox was retired co-owner and Vice President of the former Continental Hosiery Mill Inc. Since 1998 he had been associated with the former Flowers Funeral Home until his health declined. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, where he served as a former Trustee, former Administrative Board Member, and was head usher for a number of years. In 2000 he received the churche�s Lay Person of The Year Award. He was a member of the Henderson Kiwanis Club, where he had perfect attendance for fifty years, most of those years he held the office of treasurer.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Bobby Fletcher. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-three years Anne Tippett Cox; two daughters, Cathy C. Carver (Dave), and Sarah C. Lloyd (Bob); four grandchildren, William David Carver (Katherine), Benjamin Thomas Carver, Cameron Lloyd Cremeens (Joey), and Robert Morrison Lloyd; two great-grandchildren, Will and Andie Carver.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, the hour prior to the service in the fellowship hall of First United Methodist Church. All other times they will be at the home of Bob and Sarah Lloyd 214 Woodtrail Way Henderson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Bill Tippett, Lennie Swanson, Len Swanson, Tom Church, Clifton Carter, Thad Goodrich, Jack Richardson, and Durwood Wells. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mens Bible Class and members of the Henderson Kiwanis Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church 114 Church Street Henderson, NC 27536.
