William A. Grissom Jr.

William Arnold Bill Grissom Jr., 71, of 1412 Peace Street, Henderson, NC died Thursday, October 4, 2018 at Duke University Hospital.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late William Arnold Grissom Sr. and Majesty Johnson Grissom. He was a 1965 Graduate of Henderson High School. He attended Chowan Junior College and completed his Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina. As one of Hendersons most well-known pharmacists, he worked for Eckerd Drug Store in Durham and Henderson, Winn Dixie Pharmacy, Best Care Pharmacy and Food Lion Pharmacy. He always regarded his customers as more than just patrons, and enjoyed watching their lives develop.

A dedicated and dependable member of First Congregational Christian Church for thirty-four years, he served as choir member, and chairman of the Deacons and Administrative Board.

A Service of Remembrance will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., at First Congregational Christian Church, conducted by Rev. George Williams and Rev. Rick Clayton. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he leaves behind many loving and caring memories. Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Kaye Rawles Grissom; a daughter, Wendy Tillotson (David); a son, Brian Grissom (Teresa); four grandchildren, Lilly Grissom, Rachel Grissom, Michael Tillotson (Marcail), and Mark Tillotson; and a lifelong friend, Wayne Melton.

The family will receive friends Friday, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Gay, Russell Haithcock, Mike Wall, Adrian Stainback, Preston Stainback, Kenney Stainback, and Steve Manning.

Flowers will be accepted; or gifts of love and remembrance may be made to First Congregational Christian Church, c/o Jean Sams, 1464 Plum Nutty Road, Henderson, NC 27537.

Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home.
